Hello, my dear travelers! It's been a long time since I've posted anything on the blog, I've always kept an eye on social platforms, and I love my blog very much. Anyway, lately I've been reading other blogs and they've become very boring to me, and that's not a reproach. I understand that people look to them to inform, but forget about the emotion that I'm really looking for in a blog. And here I was, daring to step out of the crowd and write from the heart.
In today's blog post I will introduce you to the city of Leuven. I spent only one day there, but to be honest, I didn't need to. Here's some info: Leuven is located 30km from Brussels, which is easily accessible if you are in the Belgian capital. The city has a population of just under 100,000 people and is very quiet, especially on Sundays. It was once a center of science and culture, which it continues to be today. The University Library in Leuven was founded in 1425, which makes it 600 years old. It has been burned down several times and suffered serious damage during the Second World War. Today it has retained its functions as a library, while at the same time being open to tourists. Its visit cost us 8 euros, and the price included climbing the clock tower, from the top of which a breathtaking panoramic view of the city is revealed. I recommend it with both hands. After visiting the library, I headed to the historic center of the city where the building that took me to this city is located - THE CITY HALL. The building has stunning architecture with exceptional details. A masterpiece of Brabant architecture. Unfortunately, it is closed for renovation and is expected to open for visits in 2029. Until then, one can only enjoy its beauty from the outside or take wonderful photos. The cities in the city are impressive, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to try Belgian fries again. Unfortunately, I did not go to a restaurant and they were terrible, but there are many restaurants in the city. It gave me the impression that there is American cuisine and that this city has a special respect for the USA. Despite the sunny weather, a cold north wind was blowing, which is normal for there, but even on summer days, don't forget to bring something warm, because the north is unforgiving.
The city is very beautiful and unique, but my opinion is that one day there is more than enough to see the main sights.
How to get there: From Sofia by plane to Brussels. From there there are buses, trains or cars. My recommendation is to book a day trip from Brussels and spend the night in the capital. I leave a linkHERE
